UTA BÖLLHOFF

Director, Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) - Germany

Dr. Uta Boellhoff has more than 15 years experience in humanitarian aid and development with a focus on policy development, advocacy and programme management. She has started her career with McKinsey & Company, Inc. in Berlin and Dubai, leading projects in the social sector (e.g., on behalf of DFID and USAID).

In the last decade, she held various leadership positions in the German government, e.g., as Director-General for Multilateral policy in the BMZ, and moved then to the United Nations, serving as the Director External Relations and Communications for UNRWA in Palestine. She is currently appointed as Director in the BMZ. She has been living in many fragile states such as Palestine, Pakistan and Egypt, and has extensive experience working with refugees on-site and addressing migration topics. Dr. Boellhoff has been speaking at the ‘Round Table on Health Security’ at the Munich Security Conference (2016, 2017), at the London Summit on Family Planning (2012) and many other UN fora. Dr. Boellhoff has studied Economics in Switzerland and Germany and holds a PhD from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
