In partnership with GlobeScan, BCtA conducted a survey on the State of Inclusive Business, which aimed to take the pulse of inclusive business globally, to identify opportunities for growth, understand the challenges to their success, and importantly, to gauge how the SDGs are influencing the way we do business. A total of 193 inclusive business actors participated, including representatives from companies, government, multilateral organisations, NGOs, academics, think tanks and investors.

The survey findings reconfirmed our belief that companies are valuing inclusive business as a concrete model for driving both SDG impact and company growth. Inclusive business was not only recognised as a way to improve company credibility and trust, it was also strongly seen as an effective way to break the cycle of poverty for billions by contributing to higher incomes; affordable, accessible and adequate products and services; and sustainable livelihoods. Companies also experienced shared challenges and risks – including access to finance and unfavourable government regulations.
