Upcoming Event: Unleashing Inclusive Business for the Sustainable Development Goals in Bangladesh

In 2015, world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and committed the world to ending poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and tackling climate change by 2030. The SDGs have since come to define global priorities and shape the global development agenda, providing a shared vision for governments, the private sector and the civil society to work towards. For the SDGs to fulfill their potential, a more comprehensive approach that engages all tiers of society is necessary. Without the collective action of actors across all sectors, the SDGs cannot be achieved.

The Business Call to Action (BCtA), in cooperation with The Partnering Initiative, Business Fights Poverty and UNDP Country Office, is partnering with SNV Netherlands Development Organization, BOP Inc. and other local partners on the ground to initiate a global dialogue around inclusive business and raise awareness about the opportunities to contribute to SDGs achievement through private sector engagement on national levels. To this end, the partners are organizing a series of events in several countries, including Bangladesh, to launch the discussions around IB and SDGs.

The high-level event, Unleashing Inclusive Business for the Sustainable Development Goals in Bangladesh, will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) on June 5, 2016 from 9:00AM- 1:30PM, followed by lunch.

The event will bring together leading partners in business, civil society, government, donors and other stakeholders to discuss the private sector, and particularly inclusive business, role in contributing to the SDGs, canvass existing policy environment as it relates to inclusive business, identify critical challenges and innovative solutions in inclusive business as well as share successful business cases across sectors in Bangladesh.
