Why attend?
“I feel like I've found a kindred group of highly intelligent, driven individuals who care deeply about
measuring the impact of the work of not only their own organizations but of the sector at-large.”
Intimate Conversations. With a max of 80 participants all grappling with questions of impact assessment, conversations are focused, intimate, and fun.
Practical. We move conversations beyond theory to demonstrate real examples of what works (and what doesn’t work).
Transparent and Open. We ask that all participants come prepared not just to learn, but to share their expertise.

Agenda
Read the *draft* agenda here. Sessions subject to change.
The theme of this year's conference is Aligning Impact. A recurring challenge raised in ANDE’s regional Metrics Learning Labs is that each person’s understanding of what impact means differs depending on their context, country, and culture of origin.
What would it mean to define what “impact” means in Africa, for Africans? We hope to leverage our first Metrics Conference outside of the United States to tease out the implications of impact, and what it means for impact measurement, not only in Kenya but throughout the contexts in which ANDE members operate.
Through discussions, we will work to define the African impact agenda, and also provide participants with practical, hands-on resources they can use to measure impact at their organizations. The agenda is under development in a collaborative process with ANDE members, but the draft shows how the conference will be organized and an overview of topics that we will discuss. If you submitted session ideas you will hear from us soon.

Why Nairobi?
After 8 years, this is the first year that Metrics from the Ground Up will be hosted outside Washington, DC. ANDE is partnering with DFID to build the capacity of impact investors, social entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial support organizations working in sub-Saharan Africa to measure their social and environmental performance. Metrics from the Ground Up Nairobi is an opportunity to bring together all these players for two days of learning and collaboration. We are excited for this opportunity to live up to the event's name: we aspire to tackle global impact measurement challenges from the ground up.
