SDG Corporate Tracker launched: A platform to measure private sector contribution to the SDGs

The SDG Corporate Tracker Colombia will allow the private sector to measure their contribution to the SDGs.

Bogota, Colombia, July 1, 2020: The COVID-19 emergency has made it clear that the world needs to work comprehensively to build an inclusive and sustainable future. For this reason, the National Planning Department (DNP), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with Business Call to Action (BCtA), and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) have launched the SDG Corporate Tracker Colombia. This multi-stakeholder platform allows measuring Colombia’s progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

The business sector’s fulfilment of the SDGs is measured and highlighted via the SDG Corporate Tracker in a standardized way based on GRI sustainability standards. The platform integrates the social, economic and environmental modules of sustainable development while an additional module pertaining to COVID-19 has also been included in the platform. This module seeks to measure the negative and positive impacts of the crisis, actions companies are taking to protect their workers, their response to COVID-19 and what to expect in the face of such an emergency.

With the launch of the SDG Corporate Tracker, DNP, UNDP, GRI and BCtA invite the private sector to restate their commitment to the 2030 Agenda and recognize their role as strategic partners for its implementation in the national territory.

The SDG Corporate Tracker seeks to contribute to public policy discussion and decisionmaking; measure the contribution of the private sector to the SDGs; generate analysis of the contribution to the SDGs by economic sector, company size or region of the country; and identify, keep record of and disseminate good business practices to contribute to the fulfilment of the SDGs.

The SDG Corporate Tracker has the support of Proantioquia, ProBarranquilla, ProPacífico, Bogota’s Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Home Public Utilities Companies and complementary and inherent activities (Andesco), Cartagena’s Chamber of Commerce and Colombia’s Mining Association, which through associated companies, have expressed their will and commitment to launch and report to the platform.
