Of the world’s 500 million smallholder farmers, 87 percent are in the Asia Pacific Region. Engaging this population in an inclusive and sustainable manner stands to add significant value to rural communities, emerging markets and to the long-term growth of the agricultural industry. In its recently released report, CSR Asia conducted on-the-ground research and analyses of ten approaches that ten agribusiness took across the region to open new markets, secure supply and boost productivity through the incorporation of smallholder farmers along agricultural value chains.
